Propaganda Questions

1) Given Chomsky's views on media and manufactured consent, would it ever be possible to truly create an independent, unbiased source of information for the people? 2) Of the five filters, which seem to have the greatest effect on media? Why? Does this change for any reason?

Made of Stardust The fact that we are quite literally made of stardust has fascinated me since I learned about it. The elements that make us up are, at least partially, old things that have traversed the universe. That prime law of matter, that it can never be created or destroyed but only transformed, is at work here. The cosmic dust from stars long gone stays within our bodies, tying us to the universe at large. At the start of this project, I knew I wanted to incorporate something involving space, and I eventually settled on a rather colorful abstraction, of sorts, of a spiral galaxy. I paired it with a quote that had stayed in my mind since my initial ideas for this project. “Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter.” While it can be a bit open to interpretation, even in its original setting, I find that it always reminds me of the stardust inside each of us.

There is not much of a deeper message or meaning instilled here but more appreciating the beauty of a local, natural place that can be enjoyed by many. While I personally do not travel to Lake Tahoe very often, I have enjoyed every time I have been.

The other phrases include ‘Time’s Up, a call for it to end, and ‘Balance Ton Porc’, the French version which translates to ‘squeal on your pig’. The one with ‘Black Lives Matter’ represents the struggle black people in particular face against police brutality and the racism often shown in it. The other phrase is ‘Hands Up, Don’t Shoot’, a common mantra used to plead officers not to shoot people right away. The last one with ‘Me Next?’ shows a few responses people have had to school shootings that have happened, this one particularly wondering who would be next, as someone inevitably will be if nothing changes.
